United Way Launches 'Paint The Town Red'

A night out on the town just got a little more charitable.

The United Way of Chatham-Kent is launching its first "Paint the Town Red" campaign, where several restaurants have committed to donating some of their profits from Tuesday night's sales to the organization.

"We have a number of local restaurants who have agreed to give 25% of their proceeds to United Way for people who go out and eat on Giving Tuesday," says Director of Resource Development Tom Slager.

He says although the two campaigns are different, they basically work together towards raising money for the United Way.

"Giving Tuesday started a number of years ago to follow-up on the Black Friday and the Cyber Monday and the spend, spend, spend," says Slager. "It's a day to do something good for your community."

The restaurants participating in this campaign include Bayside Brewing Co., Casa Bella, Frendz Restaurant, Grand Castle Cafe, James Street Eatery, Mike's Place, Venus de Milo Restaurant, and Z's Bistro.

"Hopefully they'll get a few more customers come in," he says.

Slager adds, they'll be taking note of how today's event goes and see how it can be improved for next year.
