Maroons Defeat St. Marys 5-2

Josh Barraclough picked up a goal and an assist and Nolan VandenBoorn had two assists as the Chatham Maroons beat the St. Marys Lincolns 5-2 Sunday at Chatham Memorial Arena.

The Maroons are now in fifth place in the GOJHL Western Conference with 31 points.

Barraclough picked up his goal at 8:35 in the first period, putting it past St. Marys goalie Tristan Lewis.  Alec Mackenzie would add to the Chatham lead later in the period on a goal of his own.

The Lincolns would gain those goals back in the second period.  Alessio Luciani would get St. Marys on the board at 16:43, and Matthew Zilke would follow suit at 17:22 to knot the score at two goals apiece.  However, Steven Beenackers would break the tie just 30 seconds later, and the Maroons would take a 3-2 lead into the locker room at second intermission.

Chatham would pull away with two more goals in the third period.  Braden Henderson got the insurance goal at 15:24, and Bryce Yetman connected just a minute and four seconds later.

Lucas Patton was the winning goalie for Chatham, stopping 32 of the Lincolns' 34 shots.

The Maroons will head to Sarnia on Thursday to take on the Legionnaires.  The game will be broadcast on CFCO Country 92.9/AM 630, as well as CHOK-FM 103.9/AM 1070.
