Job Fair Generates Interest In Chatham

Dozens of locals have turned in their applications to Cross Country Trailers for a shot at being hired for one of 75 open positions.

The company held a job fair at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre Tuesday with the goal of hiring workers for their Blenheim plant.

Joline Brown with Human Resources says they've developed a couple of new product lines and they need more employees to build them.

As far as turn out goes, Brown says they've seen a good amount of interest from the community.

"We didn't really know what to expect coming into this, but I think it's gone pretty well," says Brown.

Three hours before the job fair had ended, Brown says they received about 70-80 applications.

"We interviewed most people on the spot," says Brown. "We are potentially giving job offers to some of those."

Brown says those who have applied should hear back within the next couple of weeks. However, she also says there will be other job opportunities in the future.
