Colder, Snowy Winter On The Way

Don't expect another relatively mild winter this year.

The Weather Network has released its annual winter forecast and it says we are in for a more traditional Canadian winter in 2016-2017. Weather Network forecasters say much of the country will see temperatures that will be near or below normal this winter.

For southwestern Ontario, this winter is likely to bring below normal temperatures. However, we can take solace in the fact that the forecast does not call for the cold to be as harsh or persistent as it was in the winer of 2013-2014. The Weather Network also says there will be periodic breaks from the cold and occasional thawing.

The winter of 2016-2017 is likely to be a good one for snow plowing contractors. The Weather Network says we will see more precipitation this winter than last. It says lingering warm water temperatures in the Great Lakes will lead to more lake effect snow squalls throughout the winter.
