The Windsor Lancers and Fanshawe Falcons men’s basketball team were in good spirits during Tuesday night’s exhibition game.

The game at St. Clair College’s Thames Campus is an annual event hosted by the Wildcats.

Both coaches and players demonstrated good sportsmanship throughout the event.

Falcons Coach Tony Marcotullio says the good relationship between him and Lancer’s Head Coach has kept the event running smoothly.

“Coach Oliver and I go back a long way and he’s really gracious enough to allow his team to play,” says Marcotullio. “He runs a great event and we have nothing but respect for the Windsor program.”

Marcotullio says this is always a game the kids look forward to.

“We look at it as a growth experience,” says Marcotullio. “[Windsor is] really well coached and the kids play extremely hard, so what I tell our guys is it’s a good way to see where you are early in the season and to gage yourself to what you have to do in the future.”

Lancers Coach Chris Oliver says some of the players from the younger groups display great skill, so it’s a good opportunity to have the two teams play each other.

“If we don’t play well, we can get beat,” says Oliver. “I think that’s how good basketball has gotten at all levels, whether it’s the OCAA or obviously the CIS as well – there’s a lot of good players.”
