Latest EQAO Results Released

The province has released the latest EQAO results, and both the public and catholic boards appear to be right on trend.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board says reading and writing scores at the elementary school level remain strong, with well over 70 per cent of students in both Grades 3 and 6 at or above the provincial average.

But math scores continue to fall over time.

Only 59 per cent of local Catholic students in Grade 3 and 40 of students in Grade 6 met the provincial assessment standard in math.

On the flip side, board officials say math results are improving as students move through the system.

The story is just about the same at the Lambton Kent District School Board, where the number of students meeting provincial standards in reading and writing is nearly on par with the rest of Ontario.

However, the EQAO results show math scores across the entire province are not where they should be. For LKDSB, 56% of Grade 3 students and 38% of Grade 6 students were at or above the provincial standard.

As for mathematics results for Grade 9 students, the public board's high schools have remained fairly stable, as is the case province-wide.
