Fire investigators are still trying to determine what sparked a blaze at an apartment complex on Timmins Cres. in Chatham.
Fire crews got the call at about 7:55pm Monday and were able to put the fire out within about 10 minutes, but not before it caused about $75,000 in damage.
Investigators believe the fire started in a utility room in the basement of the building.
Firefighters stayed at the scene for a couple of hours in order to clear the apartments of smoke and to make sure the fire wasn't going to start up again.
No injuries were reported, but fire officials have a couple of safety messages they're sharing in light of the incident.
Firefighters will also be returning to the area today to check in with residents and to answer any questions they might have about their smoke alarms or home fire safety plans.
As a general reminder, fire officials says you should have an electrician install and check wiring in your home and you should only use extension cords as a temporary measure.
They're also reminding residents to make a fire escape plan with two ways out of every room.
