Dancing, Crafts On Display At Delaware Pow Wow

Moraviantown is welcoming an influx of visitors today for the Delaware Nation Pow Wow.

The weekend will be filled with traditional dancing, drumming, singing, food, and crafts.

Event co-ordinator Mackenzie Taylor Noah says their first Grand Entry is at noon on Saturday.

"The Grand Entry is when all the dancers walk out and we introduce the head veteran, our head staff, and we say thanks to all of our volunteers," says Noah.

Two more Grand Entries are scheduled to take place over the course of the weekend -- one at 7pm on Saturday and one at 12pm Sunday.

While those events will draw a crowd, Noah says the Pow Wow also will feature a lot of traditional and competitive dancing throughout the weekend.

"A lot of people come and just set up their lawn chairs and just watch all the dancing," says Noah. "It's a bonus to walk around and see all the vendors -- you can spend a money there."

Noah says they are expecting around 200 dancers to show up for the Pow Wow, some of whom have been attending the event for more than 20 years.
