Parry Bridge Reopens To Traffic

After being closed three months for reconstruction, the Parry Bridge on Keil Dr. in Chatham is now partially open to traffic again.

One lane in each direction reopened on schedule, at the end of the day Thursday. However, southbound traffic will be unable to turn left onto Riverview Dr. as construction continues.

"The west side portion of the sidewalk is now on and people are using that. The east side is what they're working on right now," says Chatham-Kent's Director of Engineering Adam Sullo. "They've been doing a very good job coordinating their work and we're happy that it's opening on the timeline we projected."

Sullo says all four of the bridge's lanes are expected to be fully reopened around Thanksgiving weekend in October. An exact date has not been set.

Construction will continue underneath the bridge when all lanes are open to traffic.

Sullo says with only the two lanes currently open, a load limit posting remains in effect. The limit is expected to be removed once the bridge is fully reopened.
