Thames Campus Enrollment Climbing

Students will be able to get their first taste of college life this week as orientation at St. Clair College gets underway.

Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment Ann Hetherington says enrollment for this year is looking good.

"Enrollment is looking extremely strong," says Hetherington. "Each day as we lead into the first week of classes more and more students are coming in to register."

She says the health science programs continue to be popular among new students.

"The health care sector is one that a lot of people are looking for careers in," says Hetherington. "We do still have a few spots available in our practical nursing and personal support worker programs."

Adding, the power line technician program is also a popular program. Although the program is full the school will be accepting applications in the fall for September 2017.

Students walking the Thames campus will also have a little more space.

Hetherington says expansions spearheaded by the student government will be finished sometime in late October, mid November.

"They're expanding their learning space, their cafeteria, new class meeting rooms, and classrooms," says Hetherington.

Those eager to check out the campus can attend orientation this Wednesday and Thursday.

Hetherington says although school starts next weeks, it's not too late to apply for courses.

She adds, the first week of school is always busy so students should prepare for line-ups and wait times.

"We always ask students to be patient," says Hetherington. "There's usually line-ups for various things like getting student cards or parking passes."
