Qualifier For Local Golf Tour

The Jamieson Jr. Golf Tour is set to hit the links once again, starting with the tournament qualifier Sunday.

The qualifier starts at 1:30pm at Fox Glen Golf Course, marking the beginning of another season. The tour will be taking 60 junior boys and 16 junior girls, along with a handful of collegiate players.

Tour Director Dan Demarco says the big turnout they consistently see is encouraging for golf in the region.

"Between junior and collegiate with have over 20 players playing some kind of college or university golf in the United States and Canada. So it's a very strong field," says Demarco.

This also marks the first year tour participants can earn points towards the Golf Association of Ontario Order of Merit.

The first stop on the tour goes June 11 at Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor.
