Entegrus officials say trying to steal copper wire from their substations can lead to fatal consequences.
This comes after another break-in at the hydro company's St. Clair St. compound in Chatham.
"When they cut the wires, they don't know if it's live or de-energized," says Entegrus Health and Safety Manager Randy Klyn. "Our concern is, yes we don't want anything stolen, but the biggest thing is the life threat."
Klyn adds, even if thieves do escape the compounds with their life, they probably won't get a big payout. That's because Entegrus uses what's called "copper clad."
"When they do grab what they need to, and they think it's copper, they're not getting anything for it. That's huge for them to know, that it's really not copper at our station," says Klyn.
Back in 2014 a man died from apparent electrocution in a London power station.
