St. Clair Students Head To China

Two St. Clair College students have left to experience school life on the other side of the world.

Second-year Thames Campus Early Childhood Education students Victoria Horrobin and Delta Haymes will be completing an eight-week exchange placement at King Sun Primary School in Taiyuan, China.

Thames Campus ECE Coordinator Brenda Huff says the two get to do more than just practice their trade.

"They're going to get a full immersion experience in Chinese culture, and also the pedagogy of a Chinese primary school," says Huff.

She adds the exchange comes at a time when the Chinese school system is changing.

"The government is looking at a more play-based Kindergarten program, with a focus in social and physical development," says Huff. "Our students are really experts on all those things when they graduate."

The two students will be back in June, just in time for graduation.
