Boy, 4, Dies After Being Hit By Pickup TruckApril 18, 2016 8:20am
A 4-year-old boy is dead after police say he ran onto the road and was struck by a pickup truck on Smoke Line near Thamesville.
Investigators say it happened around 7pm on Sunday night.
A 55-year-old Chatham man was driving his F150 pickup truck westbound on Smoke Line when he hit the child.
The boy was playing in the ditch with friends when he climbed the bank and started to run across the highway.
He was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency service workers tried to save the boy, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation is on-going. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chatham-Kent Police Service’s traffic unit.
