Main Route Upgrade For Wallaceburg

There will be some construction delays coming to Wallaceburg and a municipal councillor thinks it is going to please residents.

The province has agreed to kick in up to $3-million to repair the connecting link, the section of Hwy. 40 through the community.

Councillor Carmen McGregor says it is badly needed.

"If you drive through Wallaceburg you quickly learn, both McNaughton Ave. and Dufferin Ave. have undergone many stages of patching and filling and the road is in quite bad shape," she says. "It gives a better perception of Wallaceburg too is you are driving through going from 40 Hwy. off Chatham going to 40 Hwy. heading to Sarnia, it is the perception a lot of it and it will look good."

The initial work will be on McNaughton Ave. but municipal officials say the community can still apply for funding to complete the Dufferin Ave. portion of the route in future.
