Maroons Take Series Edge In Leamington

The Chatham Maroons are taking a 2-1 series lead against the Flyers back to home ice after winning 4-3 in Leamington.

Maroons forward Ross Krieger scored the eventual game winner on Tuesday night at Highbury Canco Arena in Leamington just 15 seconds after the Flyers had tied the game in the third period.

"I like to be in that situation where I can make a difference," says Krieger. "Coach put me out there and we [linemates] were all thinking, 'let's take the momentum away, let's get it right back.'"

The rookie forward has scored some big goals for the Maroons.

"I'd like to say it's skill, but I think it's more luck than anything; just being in the right place at the right time," says Krieger. "My dad's always told me, 'be that difference maker' and I like to think of myself as a difference maker when I get out there."

Brendan Johnston made 31 saves in the win for the Maroons.

Game 4 of the best-of-seven GOJHL series is in Chatham on Wednesday. Puck-drop is set for 7pm.
