Farm Show Space A Hot Commodity

The CK Farm Show is proving to be a unique opportunity for companies to meet local farmers and more companies want in.

Doug Harris with BroadGrain Commodities jumped at the chance to grab floor space at the show so he could reach out to producers he doesn't get to see all that often.

"It's a good time to meet a number of producers who I talk with all the time," says Harris. "It's just a good time to put a name to the face."

BroadGrain is one of the over 135 exhibitors at the third annual event being held at Chatham's John D. Bradley Convention Centre. The farm showcase has a wait list of exhibitors looking to get into the show as space at the convention centre is essentially maxed out.

Tirecraft based out of Burgessville, south of Woodstock is another of the companies at the 2016 event.

Kevin Barnim with the company says the show provides an opportunity to strengthen its ties with customers in Chatham-Kent.

"It's a very local show so it's nice that we get to interact more locally in this market. In other shows we don't get as many people from this market," says Barnim.

Harris points to the size of the show as an attractive advantage for companies.

"This show is large enough that it's worthwhile to come to, but it's small enough that it's a much more relaxed, more intimate type of show where you can spend the time and talk with a producer for five minutes and he's not feeling as if he's going to miss something," says Harris.

The show is set to wrap on Thursday with the floor open from 9am to 4pm.
