An educator and a driving force behind Dresden Minor Soccer is being recognized in the naming of the main soccer field at the Lambton Kent Composite School Athletic complex.

School principal Murray Hunt says the field is being named the Wilson Pitch in honour of former teacher and principal Ewan Wilson.

“The main reason for the Wilson Pitch designation is that he is very instrumental in Dresden community minor soccer which has 400 to 500 young people participating in it every summer,” he says. “He was a science teacher here he worked in the greenhouse and so on, then later on in his career he came back and was principal here for several years.”

The first phase of the sports complex is a six lane track with two soccer fields.

Plans are in the works to add washrooms and canteen as well as a walking trail and ball diamond.
