A Chatham man accused of threatening Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's family as well as female MPs, has been ordered to undergo psychiatric assessment.
James Martin Platts, 57, was removed from a Via Rail train in Cobourg on January 5 after allegedly making the threats during a cell phone conversation, and will now spend the next 30 days in a Whitby facility.
Platts is charged with uttering threats to kill and will next appear in court February 12.
He was denied bail last week and reappeared in court yesterday morning.
