Unifor Prepping For Contract Talks

As the new mini-van is about to be released at the North American Internation Auto Show, Unifor Local 444 is developing its strategy for contract talks with Fiat Chrysler and the Windsor Assembly Plant.

Their contract is set to expire in September 2016 and Local 444 President Dino Chiodo says they'll be looking at the contracts recently negotiated by the United Auto Workers across the border to help determine what they'll be asking for.

But Chiodo says workers need to be practical about their expectations.

"I think all workers deserve increases for the work that they do cause they're all productive and they are making their employers money. But again you have to understand the global economy and where to situate yourself in that position," says Chiodo.

Across the border contracts include wage increases and gradual elimination of the two-tier wage system.
