Windsor Shatters Snow Record (Audio)

The amount of snowfall this weekend completely shattered a previous record in Windsor.

On Saturday Windsor Airport recorded 10.6 cm (4.1 in) of the white stuff. The previous record on November 21, 1972 only saw 3.6 cm (1.4 in) of snow.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says snow isn't in the short term forecast.

"The models are indicating temperatures bouncing back to well above normal values by Wednesday of this week," he says. "Normal highs should be about 6 C (43 F), we're forecasting a high of 9 C (48 F) on Wednesday."

Initially on Friday Environment Canada was calling for light snow and rain, but the U.S. weather service predicted 17.7 cm (7 in) of snow.

Coulson says the storm changed tracks and Environment Canada revised its forecast and issued a special weather statement.
