Trudeau’s Swearing In Has Different Feel

Justin Trudeau is now Canada’s 23rd Prime Minister and the ceremony is a little different than ones over the last ten years.

University of Windsor Political Science professor Lydia Miljan says it was different seeing the grounds of Rideau Hall open to the public during the ceremony.

“I think that it was really refreshing and it signals this is a different type of government, not just with the public but also the media,” she says.

First nations was also represented, with Inuit throat signers performing during the ceremony.

Trudeau’s 31-member cabinet is also being sworn in today, which includes 15 women.
