Dinner To Honour Contributions In Agriculture

The Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce is set to recognize excellence in agriculture during the 69th Annual Rural Urban Dinner.

Chatham-Kent native Ron Anderson, who passed away in March, will be awarded posthumously by the chamber's Agriculture Committee as Agriculturist Of The Year.

Anderson's wife Joy says she couldn't be more proud of her husband's achievement.

"With economic development, he was responsible for helping a lot of new farmers or farming businesses, and for bringing more (agricultural) business in to Kent County," she says. "I wish he were here to accept the award. He would be very grateful."

BlackburnNews.com reporter Simon Crouch will also be recognized during the dinner and will receive the Friend Of Agriculture Award.  As well, Truly Green Farms will be awarded as the Agriculture Innovator Of The Year.

The Rural Urban Dinner will be held on November 25 at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre.
