A new website magazine serving southwestern Ontario is officially in operation.
The launch was held in Chatham this past Wednesday with an event at the Thames Art Gallery. According to the magazine's publisher and editor Mary Baxter, it's been slowly taking shape since April with new sections continually being added.
"I really wanted to do something to serve the region," says Baxter. "I felt there were many issues that we shared as a region that needed to be written about."
The name of the magazine comes from a mushroom which Baxter says is often considered a delicacy.
"It has that sense of something being valued. It also has a sense of local and of place," says Baxter. "Those were the meanings that I wanted to attribute to this website."
Baxter hopes the magazine can be a place of debate and storytelling for the region.
