Maroons Open Training Camp

A mix of new and old faces will be seen at this year’s Chatham Maroons training camp, which starts Saturday.

Head Coach Tyler Roeszler says about half of the 40 skaters showing up are returning, the other half new players vying for a spot.

He has a shortlist of players he wants stepping into leadership roles this year.

“Gus Ford was one of the most prolific scorers in the league last year. He and [Ian] Faubert and Mark Fratarcangelli, these are guys that are going to come back and have prominent roles in in our club not just in playing time, but as leaders,” says Roeszler.

The goalie position is still up in the air at this point. Roeszler adds there are eight goalies vying for the top two spots on the team.

The training camp will be held at Chatham Memorial Arena over the next week. The intra-squad “Maroon and White” game will be held Sunday August 30, 2015.
