Family Walks For Breakfast Program

Jenna Providenti is walking from London to Windsor to make sure kids don't have to go to school hungry.

The Windsor mortgage agent's 176km walk is raising money for the Breakfast Club of Canada, which works to ensure that breakfast programs across the country continue to provide kids with food before they go to class.

"It's pretty saddening here in Canada that we do have kids still going to school hungry," says Providenti, who made her way through Chatham-Kent on Tuesday. "The only way to change the future is to give these kids an education and give them a healthy start to the day."

The walk is proving to be a family effort as Providenti's kids and her husband also joined her for some of the walk.

"I was shocked with the six-year-old, he did probably about 20km and the 10-year-old did a little bit more than that," says Providenti. "They're both suffering from blisters, but I still have my 13-year-old with me -- all three of them were excited to do it."

Providenti hopes to arrive in Windsor at around noon Wednesday and has set a fundraising goal of $5,000.
