Chatham-Kent fire officials say a quick response to a late night fire likely saved a home.
Crews were called to a duplex at 138 Grand Ave. E in Chatham around 11:45pm yesterday. Fire officials say a quick interior attack limited the actual fire damage to the residence.
Damage is pegged at $20,000, most of which was caused by smoke, while property saved is estimated at $200,000.
Investigators say the fire started in the area of the roof but the cause is going down as undetermined.
No one was injured.
