Barn Quilt Trail In Progress

The Chatham-Kent Quilter`s Guild is looking to beautiful the area while also preserving history.

They`re in the process of producing squares for the Thames River Barn Quilt Trail, which will be erected along the Thames from Lighthouse Cove to Thamesville.

Guild President Joyce Martin Bruce says their master quilt has 30 blocks on it, each with their own backstory. "They're local eye candy, they're a rural art gallery. They fascinate people because of the different designs, and people want to know 'what's the story behind them.'"

The variety of designs include the British Flag, a country church, and a lighthouse.

The project costs $30,000, which was raised through grants and donations. The blocks will be placed on barns and other structures within the next two weeks.
