New Deputy Chief Named

Jeff Littlewood is Chatham-Kent's new deputy police chief designate.

The 31-year police veteran says his top priority will be ensuring that the police service is engaging with the community, and building solid relationships. "The public needs to understand what we do and we need to protect the public, and that's what we do. And when there are complaints, we need to field those complaints properly. And we do. And I think that trust that we have with the public, whoever's dealt with us could stand up and say, 'Yes, they are trustworthy.'"

Littlewood has worked within various levels of the Chatham-Kent Police Service during his decades on the force, including professional standards, training and as a front line officer.

He's known Police Chief Gary Conn for a number of years, and feels that they'll work well together, as they share many of the same ideas about how a police service should be run.

Littlewood will drop the word "designate" from his title once he's officially sworn in.  That's expected to happen in the coming months.
