Oaks Finds New Owners

Two local residents have teamed up with a Richmond Hill man to buy the Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg and are proceeding with a long planned addition.

Mike Lavallee with the company that manages the retirement residence, says Jean Marie Laprise, Dave Van Segbrook and Richard Jaekel like the idea of people being able to find retirement accommodation in their own town.

"They loved the project so much and that they can add, not only their expertise in construction where they can add value, but also their local relationships and reputation to help the project go right to the finish line," he says. "They've started the foundation work and the expectation is the addition as well as the complete landscaping plan and the final phase of construction will be done by late summer, early fall."

The Oaks has about 40 residents now and Lavallee says as it grows there will be room for more residents and more staff.
