There’s a big party in Clachan this weekend.

On the heels of being selected 24th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers, Travis Konecny will celebrate the accomplishment with his family and friends who couldn’t make the trek to Florida for last week’s draft.

His father Rob says he couldn’t be more proud.

“It’s incredible, our whole family is very excited for Travis,” says Rob. “He’s worked extremely hard over the years and we’re proud of him for doing that and you know it’s great that Ron Hextall recognized that and he thinks that Trav’s gonna be a great Philadelphia Flyer because of the attributes he brings.” Despite being a Leafs fan, Rob says he isn’t bothered by his favourite team passing on his son, and calls the move by the Flyers to trade-up and get him “the ultimate compliment.”

Travis Konecny will get his first taste of being an NHLer on Monday, when the Flyers host a week-long development camp.
