Ribfest Organizer Backs Fireworks

The man behind this weekend's Ribfest in Chatham is also pledging to make sure there are Canada Day fireworks in the city next year.

President of Family Shows Canada Doug Hillier says if he had known earlier that this year's show was cancelled, he would've put up the $6,000 dollars himself.

"The pyrotechnic wasn't hired and the firework order was cancelled with the manufacturer," says Hillier. "It came to the point where there wasn't enough scrambling that could be done to make it come together for this year's fireworks."

Hillier says he plans to meet with Canada D'eh organizers in September to start putting together next year's fireworks show.

Chatham-Kent Ribfest will run from 11am to 11pm Friday through Sunday in Chatham's Tecumseh Park.
