Entegrus Won't Get Hydro One Customers

With the province selling part of Hydro One, it looks like local power companies won't get a piece of the pie.

Entegrus President and CEO Jim Hogan says they won't get the opportunity to purchase Hydro One customers in Chatham-Kent. "I believe council would have liked us to serve the whole community. It looks like that will be something that we won't be able to do."

Hogan says Hydro One hasn't made offers to Entegrus for the rights of providing power to their customers, and doesn't anticipate that will change. "The industry expects the new Hydro One won't sell any customers, and they haven't sold any in the past. That door will be completely shut."

Last month, the Ontario Government announced it would be selling off up to 60% of Hydro One, while remaining its main shareholder.
