Selling Meat Without License

A Chatham businessman has pleaded guilty to violating provincial food safety laws.

The owner of Blazin BBQ in Chatham has admitted to smoking meat and packaging it for sale in separate locations without the proper license.

Back in 2012, OMAFRA conducted an inspection at Bedell's Wholesale Food in Dover Centre. There, they found smoked pulled pork from Blazin BBQ Inc. The activity breaches regulations in the Food Safety and Quality Act, which requires a license to sell smoked meat off site.

The owner has pleaded guilty to the charge of carrying on a licensed activity without a license to do so. He also faces a fine of $2,500.
