Celebrating Inclusion And Accomplishments

Community Living Month is kicking off in Chatham-Kent with a BBQ and a flag raising event today.

Special Events Supervisor Nicole English says they're also handing out a pair of $1,000 awards to help two people they support make their dreams a reality.

"It's really great to see their faces because obviously sometimes there are financial limitations," says English. "It's wonderful to make their dreams become a reality because at the end of the day, that's what Community Living is here to do."

One of this year's award recipients plans to use the money to take his wife of 20 years on the honeymoon that they never had a chance to go on, while the other recipient plans to visit family in England and do some travelling.

Community Living is also recognizing Union Gas for making a difference in the community by hiring a person who has a disability and encouraging others to do the same.
