Going 'Glocal'

TEDx Chatham-Kent speaker Jennifer Pate is hoping more people take her "glocal" idea to heart.

Pate spoke on what she sees as her own "glocal" lifestyle, talking about tackling global issues in a local setting.

"All they need to do is open themselves and realize that optimism is key," says Pate. "If we're going to instigate action, no matter what scale, we need to be optimistic."

Pate says it doesn't take a large community to make change happen, pointing to the small town of Bayfield, Ontario as a prime example.

"They've signed up as a blue community with the Council of Canadians, they've committee to becoming a plastic-free community, they are putting in re-fill stations for water bottles," says Pate.

The TEDx Chatham-Kent speaker series ran Thursday at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham.
