Opening Day Magic

Opening Day is going to be a big day every year for local couple John Cottingham and Erin Evans.

"I love Opening Day," says Evans. "We never miss it."

Cottingham popped the question before the Tigers' 4-0 win over the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park in Detroit.

"I planned it. I thought I was going to do it over there, but I panicked and did it before we went across, got it all done," says Cottingham.

Erin said yes as the two became engaged before heading to the opener of the MLB season in Detroit.

Comerica Park saw the fourth largest crowd ever and the third largest Opening Day attendance with 45,030 fans at the game.

"If you go to a Tigers game next week, it's going to be a different atmosphere than today," says George Pohoada, a Windsorite and Tigers fan. "It's a nostalgia-like feeling, it's like the first day of Hanukkah or the Christmas season."

Emily Bondy and Dave McGuire enjoyed the trip.

"This is our second year going and this year we actually had tickets, so it's kind of becoming a little tradition," says Bondy. "We had nosebleed seats and we still had a good time."
