Admirals Edge Blades To Advance To Finals

The Amherstburg Admirals will now move on to the finals after defeating the Blenheim Blades 4-3 in Game 6 of their semi-final series.

On Friday, the Admirals took a 2-0 lead in the second period, but the Blades were able to tie things up in the third. Blenheim was able to score once more before the end of the period, but fell short after Amherstburg scored two of their own.

Admirals Head Coach Paul Bortignon says this is the first time the team has made it to the championship.

"I think it's a relief for us. We didn't make a big deal of it, but this organization has been around for 28 years and it's the first time we've gone to the finals," he says. "For us it's something special and hopefully all of these people cherish it. It's definitely a great day to be an Admiral, that's for sure."

The Admirals will now face off against the Essex 73's in the Great Lakes Junior C Championship.
