Everest Students Get Government Help

After last week's shocking announcement that Everest College was immediately closing all schools in Ontario, government officials are scrambling to help affected students.

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities says it's currently in the process of contacting students by email or phone to give them options on how to continue their education. Students will then have 14 days to select an option or request a refund.

The ministry continues to stress it did not close the schools. An independent decision maker known as the Superintendent of Private Career Colleges made that call because they say the college could no longer be financially responsible.

Officials say the best interests of students will continue to remain top priority.
