Maroons Beat Predators

A strong second period led the Chatham Maroons to a 6-2 victory over the Lambton Shores Predators to clinch second place in their division.

On Saturday, both teams scored in the first to tie the game 1-1 at the end of the period. The Maroons then rallied in the second, scoring three unanswered goals. The Predators scored once more in the third, but a final two goals from Chatham ensured their win. The Maroons will now face the London Nationals in the first round of the playoffs.

Maroons Head Coach Tyler Roeszler says it's a great feeling to have second place clinched going into the playoffs.

"We know we play London now, and to get second (place) locked up is nice," he says. "We can really celebrate the senior players and their last regular season game. (And) we can start to prepare for the first round in London."

Chatham closes out their regular season at home on Sunday against the St. Marys Lincolns.
