Collision Reporting Centre Usage Up

With an increase in vehicle collisions in Chatham-Kent last year, more "fender benders" are being reported to the Collision Reporting Centre.

There were 1,985 crashes in CK in 2014, up 123 from the year prior. However, more collisions were reported to the CRCs, with that number rising from 456 in 2013 to 602 in 2014.

Chatham-Kent Police Service Constable Mike Pearce says they hope to see more minor accidents reported to the centres. "Ultimately for the motorists on the road, they still need to call the police. We will determine whether it's going to be a CRC-related collision or whether we're going to investigate it further."

Pearce also noted while most accidents occured during the week, crashes involving alcohol happened most frequently on the weekend. As well, CK police have documented where crashes most often occurred in 2014. A list of the top eight can be found below:
