Council No Place For Twitter

Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope is not impressed with councillors choosing to text or use social media during meetings.

Hope says some councillors are using Twitter too much during meetings and he's asked them to stop.

"During meetings, it's like a boardroom, you should be paying attention to the conversations that are going on and not participating in the social media," he says. "Council chambers is supposed to be a place of public input, a place of debate and public input is taken by those making presentations so that all of council can hear the concerns being expressed."

Hope says communicating with the public is fine and he has no problems with texting or tweeting outside of meetings.
