Health Unit Cautious About Measles

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is on the lookout for any patients with measles-like symptoms.

This after a reported case at the "Acquire the Fire" event in Toronto that some residents might have attended.

Infectious Disease Program Manager Betty Scheppens says they're appealing to anyone that might have been in Toronto earlier this month.

"We want to know from anyone in the area that attended the event. We'd like them to call the health unit at 519-355-1071, and we'll follow up with them to see if their immunizations are up to date, if they need immunizations, and any next steps to be taken."

The symptoms of measles include fever, cough and runny nose, as well as a red blotchy rash. There are 16 confirmed cases of Measles in Ontario.
