Chatham-Kent builders will see a 2.1% increase in permit fees over the next three years.
This as the Building & Enforcement Services department tries to keep service levels consistent with legislation.
Chief Building Official Paul Lacina says since Bill 124 was introduced, stricter permit intervals have been imposed on building inspectors. "It required inspectors to have quicker time frames to do the building permits. Because of that increased time that was needed, they no longer have time to do both building inspections and bylaw enforcement."
The annual corporate allocation for permit operations is also going up from $215,000 to $291,000.
