CK Police Award Lifesavers

Chatham-Kent police are commending a number of individuals after a near drowning incident in the Chanel Ecarte.

Back on October 19, Ben Moran fell from his boat on the Snye River. It was then that Darren Wrightman swam from shore, and kept the two afloat. Just as both men were becoming exhausted, a pontoon boat came by and picked them up.

Chief Dennis Poole says Wrightman played an integral part in keeping Morgan alive. "Mr. Wrightman, at great risk to himself, went out there to complete that rescue. I'm certain that had he not intervened, that the boater likely may have drowned."

Poole says they'll recommend Wrightman earn a Medal of Bravery from the province. The other parties involved: Chris Emery, Janet Debot, Jamie Wood, Jessica Wood, Bailey Williams and Mike McClure received commendations from the board.
