Agriculture Year Mostly Positive

It has been mostly a positive year for agriculture, although southwestern Ontario grain and hog producer Mark Huston says it took a lot of work to get there.

Huston, who is a director with the Grain Farmers of Ontario, says wet weather had an impact.

“A challenging planting season, a very cool summer and then another challenging harvest,” he says. “But I think some of the yields have come back not too bad.”

Huston says the livestock sector is one area doing well, with higher meat prices and lower feed costs.
