Chatham's Goodfellow Way May Return

The Temporary re-naming of a section of Wellington Street in Chatham may become an annual event.

Councillor Derek Robertson made the motion to rename the section between 3rd Street and Queen Street earlier this year to reconize the 60th anniversary of the Chatham Goodfellows. Robertson says it's not out of the realm of possibility that Goodfellows Way returns every December.

"That hasn't come up," says Robertson. "Certainly it could be for consideration. We have the signs made now so we won't have to talk about the cost again." Robertson adds the naming was part of the milestone celebration for 60-years of hard work and dedication to the community.

A large portion of the Goodfellows work takes place at the Spirit and Life Centre, also known as the former St.Joseph Auditorium, in downtown Chatham.
