Threatening phone calls from someone claiming to be an Enwin Utilities employee is a scam, company officials warn.
The bogus calls ask customers to immediately pay their bills with an electronic money transfer or with a credit card. Enwin says customers are then told their electricity will be shut off if the payment isn't made.
Enwin says it never asks or accepts wire transfers or credit card payments over the phone for overdue accounts.
Anyone who suspects they have been a victim of this phone scam is urged to call the Windsor Police Financial Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700.
