EA For High-Speed Rail Service Announced

Ontario’s Transportation Minister says an environmental assessment on a high-speed rail line connecting Windsor to Toronto will start next year.

Consultations on the service, which will have stops in London, Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto will start early in 2015 with business groups, Aboriginal and Metis groups, and municipalities.

The service also has a planned stop at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

Steven Del Duca told reporters in London the service will help connect southwestern Ontario with the global economy. It’s part of the Liberal government’s long-term transit and infrastructure program, Moving Ontario Forward, which will make almost $29-billion available over the next decade for priority infrastructure projects.
