Optimism For Leamington's OB Unit

The future of Leamington's Obstetrics Unit is still up in the air, but many who oppose the closure are still clinging on to hope.

LeeAnne Setterington is spearheading a movement to save the OB unit at Leamington District Memorial Hospital, collecting over 7,000 signatures in the process.

The Erie-St. Clair Local Health Integration Network is holding another public meeting this Thursday.

"I think it's a good next step. My only concern is that it's so close to the closure date," says Setterington. "I wish they would extend it because nurses and staff are going to be worried about what their next move is and also mothers won't know where they should go."

The OB unit is slated to close March 31, 2015.
